Breaking: Milan agree deal for Real Madrid player

Dani Ceballos, a Real Madrid midfielder, is open to leaving the club in the summer, and one of his potential destinations may be Serie A.

So far, only two teams have been linked to Ceballos: Atletico Madrid and Milan. While Los Blancos are hesitant to see him leave the city, they have solid relations with the Rossoneri, with whom they have done business in previous years. According to Diario AS, Milan would like to arrange a loan transfer with the option to buy, similar to Brahim Diaz’s, but Los Blancos would prefer a permanent exit. Real Madrid hopes to profit at least €10 million on the former Real Betis player.

Earlier in the day, it was claimed that Real Madrid will want a fair price for Ceballos, and with Arda Guler (loan) and Luka Modric (contract expiration) also on the verge of leaving, the club is unlikely to trade him. With three years remaining on his contract, a solid deal would likely be worth more than €10 million for the 27-year-old Spain international.

Capello identifies Milan’s problems and the players required to fix them

Ex-England boss Fabio Capello spots major issue which could kill Three Lions' Euros hopes - Mirror Online

Fabio Capello suggests that AC Milan require three high-quality acquisitions during the upcoming transfer window to narrow the gap with Inter, addressing key issues in the process.

Since claiming the league title in 2021-22, Milan seemed to have a promising start, but subsequent seasons have yielded no silverware, casting doubt on the club’s trajectory.

Recent events have been particularly disheartening for Milan supporters. Elimination from the Europa League by Roma, a team trailing significantly in the league standings, was followed by a derby defeat to Inter, who secured their second consecutive title.

Comparing recent seasons, Milan’s distance from the league leaders underscores their struggle to contend domestically since winning the Scudetto.

In an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Capello delineated the challenges facing Milan and proposed solutions to address them.

Let’s start from the ‘knot to untie’, as you put it…

“In the second half of the season, Milan lacked the contributions of some key players, including Maignan, Hernandez, Tomori, and Leao. Well, if they are the pillars upon which the club hopes to construct the Milan of the future, deciding what to do and how to do it is challenging.

“I feel that the management must first determine whether these great personalities still want to donate to Milan or desire to depart. In the first hypothesis, we should intervene, but not upset.”

In which areas of the field?

“Three signings are needed: a central defender, a midfielder and obviously a centre-forward.”

Let’s start with the defence. Tomori no longer seems like the player who won the Scudetto, Thiaw has experienced several bad games, Kalulu has lost his rhythm, between injuries and setbacks. Is the defence missing a leader?

“I have always believed that the strength of a defense is inextricably related to the filter that those in front create. Kalulu and Tomori made a powerful tandem in Milan’s Scudetto, thanks in part to the efforts of Kessie, Tonali, and Bennacer.

“This year, I have seen too little…” and the team has suffered greatly. Let’s look at who won the Scudetto: Inter’s midfield is easily the best in all of Serie A, which is why they controlled the season.”

What type of profile is needed in midfield?

“Personality and intelligence. Physicality is beneficial, but it is insufficient; Milan requires a midfielder who understands how to stay on the field and read all of the moments of a game, particularly when the opposition has the ball.”

There is no shortage of candidates for post-Giroud. Who is your pick?

“If Milan are looking for brilliance, they must go to Zirkzee. He has quality, is physically strong and knows Serie A. He wouldn’t need to settle in.”

Looking at Ibra and Giroud, the last No.9s who made Milan’s fortune were over 35…

“We need ready players, in attack as in the other departments. Which does not mean that we should focus on profiles whose age is not compatible with Milan’s philosophy: there are ready youngsters, Thuram is an example of this.”

Leao will turn 25 in June. Will he become a top player?

“He has huge potential, but you never know what game he’ll play. And this raises concerns: it is inconceivable to me that a player with such characteristics does not possess the wrath and competitive spirit that is expected of him. Check out Bellingham at Real. His impact was stunning. Having said that, if Leao and Theo stop, 60% of the team will be absent.”
