Breaking: Stefano Pioli confirms decision to leave Milan after Roma defeat

Milan coach Stefano Pioli does not guarantee that he will be in command beyond the summer, telling reporters to ‘be patient’ and wait until the end of the season.

Pioli has come under fire after Milan was eliminated from the Europa League quarterfinals by Roma.

According to Italian reports, if the Italian tactician does not qualify for the semi-finals, he will be dismissed at the end of the season.

As a result, media questioned him last night at a post-match press conference about Milan’s loss to Roma and his future prospects.

Pioli refuses to rule out Milan exit

“Be patient and wait until the end of the season. “At that point, the club and I will discuss it,” the Parma-born coach said, according to Milan News.

“Assessments must be made at the end of the season even if results in Europe were worse than last term,” he said.

“We still have the league, where we can do much better than last season.”

Milan will face Inter in the Derby della Madonnina on Monday and must avoid defeat to prevent themselves from mathematically winning the title.

“We must change many things in the Derby,” Pioli confessed.

“If we play like we did today [last night], we will undoubtedly have no chances. I believe the boys are aware of it.

Pioli’s Milan contract expires in June 2025. The Rossoneri are presently second in the Serie A table, 14 points behind their local rivals.
