Sunderland now want free transfer for former Chelsea and Arsenal forward

According to the Chronicle Live, Sunderland have shown interest in Leicester City winger Amani Richards.
Leicester City will make a choice on the youngster’s future this summer.

Richards, 19, is out of contract at the conclusion of the season and will become available.

According to ChronicleLive, the Black Cats are interested in him, along with certain unknown clubs in Holland, Belgium, and Denmark. Newcastle United are alleged to have previously admired him.

Sunderland have a busy few months as they prepare for another season in the Championship.

They may regard Richards as a long-term option for attack as they consider prospective additions.
The teenager has been with Leicester City since January and has played an important role in the club’s development team.

This season, he has appeared in 20 games in all competitions for their Under-21s, scoring three goals and assisting five.

We Didn't Do What We Set Out To, Says Richards

However, he has made no appearances for the first team under Enzo Maresca as they compete with Leeds United, Ipswich Town, and Southampton for promotion to the Premier League.

Leaving the King Power Stadium would be a wise option, since it would increase his chances of receiving senior game time. He is now down the pecking order with the Foxes, and his opportunities will be much more limited if they make it to the Premier League.

A move to Sunderland, for example, could be beneficial to him because the North East club is known for giving young players opportunities.

Richards spent time in the Chelsea and Arsenal academies before joining Leicester City.

His situation is currently uncertain, with the Black Cats reportedly interested in a trade. They face Millwall at home this Saturday, looking to extend their recent unbeaten record.
