Milan have rejected chance to sign Real Madrid midfielder in cut-price deal

AC Milan’s interest in signing Dani Ceballos, who may be available at a reduced price from Real Madrid, has flared in recent days, according to reports.

Ceballos was reportedly placed up for sale for €8 million by Real Madrid yesterday, as the club seeks to unload a midfielder who has played only 228 minutes in 14 LaLiga matches this season.

However, Calciomercato.com reports that, contrary to popular belief, Milan is not interested in the Spaniard.

Geoffrey Moncada, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and Antonio D’Ottavio, who will be in control of the summer transfer window, have definite plans to sign a central defender, a left back, a defensive midfielder, and a striker.

As a result, the lack of interest in Ceballos is driven by the necessity to address other parts of the pitch. Ruben Loftus-Cheek will remain the starting attacking midfielder, with Christian Pulisic a probable replacement.

Milan Considering Surprising Sales to Adjust Midfield

Milan is preparing to bid farewell to seasoned players Giroud and Kjaer, whether by choice or circumstance, while hoping to avoid major exits like Tonali’s. However, uncertainties loom over the futures of other key players. Jovic must impress to secure his role as a backup, with Milan unlikely to extend his contract but open to renegotiating terms.

The club is eyeing a midfield overhaul, considering Bennacer and Adli as potentially dispensable due to compatibility issues. The Algerian’s value stands at around €30M, a significant increase from his €9M acquisition in 2021. Milan sees potential profit in Adli but seeks greater consistency and physicality in midfield, possibly leading to lineup changes for the upcoming match against Roma, with Reijnders and Musah potentially starting over Bennacer and Adli.

Our Take on the Milan Plans

Bennacer has rarely performed at a high level, which is understandable given that he is recovering from one of the worst knee injuries possible. Adli has developed into a pleasant deputy who adds something unique to the table. There is no reason why they can’t simply strengthen their midfield without selling anyone.
