The leader of the Blue Devils will pursue other possibilities throughout his college career.
A Duke basketball career has come to an end, which may surprise some.
On Tuesday night, Jeremy Roach announced that he would be entering the transfer portal after four years with the Blue Devils.
Roach, Duke’s captain for the past two years, also stated that he will enter the 2024 NBA Draft, like he did last season before promptly returning to Durham.
“Duke Nation, Thank you for a special four years,” Roach posted on social media. “My experience at Duke has been unforgettable and made be a better person, leader, and player.”

The Leesburg, Virginia native has experienced practically every potential situation during his time at Duke, including missing the NCAA Tournament during his COVID-19-affected rookie season, making a Final Four run as a sophomore, and earning an ACC Championship as a junior.
As a senior, Roach averaged 14.0 points per game and shot 42.9 percent from three.
“To Coach K, Coach Scheyer, and all of my other coaches, teammates, managers, and support staff: Thank you for believing in me, pushing me, and guiding me to become the best version of myself. I am eternally honored to be a part of The Brotherhood.”
Roach is expected to use his final year of eligibility rather than turn pro and remain in the draft. He does not appear on many draft boards and will not be taken in the June draft.
“Thank you, Cameron Crazies, for making Duke such a fantastic player to play with. Some of my fondest memories are due of you all, so thank you,” he said.
Jeremy Roach was thought to be considering a transfer after an unsatisfactory sophomore season, but he chose to stay at Duke following an outstanding NCAA tournament run.
“Thank you for everything. I’ll always be a Blue Devil, and I’m grateful to have called Duke home for the past four years.”
Duke discovered last week that Tyrese Proctor and Caleb Foster will return next season, as Roach’s admission into the transfer portal marked the conclusion of the Blue Devil roster’s departures, which comprised Mark Mitchell, Christian Reeves, Jaylen Blakes, and Jaden Schutt.
