Charlie Patino is poised to leave Arsenal this summer, with a Serie A trio interested in the midfielder, as well as several Spanish clubs.
It was previously believed that Arsenal had approved the permanent transfer of Patino this summer in order to capitalise on the 20-year-old’s market worth before his contract expired, as he is not in Mikel Arteta’s long-term plans. According to Calciomercato, Juventus, AC Milan, and Inter are all interested in signing the Hale End graduate.
Several Spanish clubs are also interested in signing the highly talented midfield prodigy this summer. One of the main reasons for the 20-year-old’s appeal in Spain has been his Sapnish pedigree, which will let him to avoid post-Brexit regulatory difficulties and play in other European leagues.
Patino joined Arsenal in 2015 at the age of 12, defying interest from Manchester City, Chelsea, and Tottenham. Since then, he trained in Arsenal’s junior system before being leased to Blackpool. Following his good stay, he was loaned out to Championship side Swansea City, however he has struggled to make an impact and has only appeared off the bench.
It is still early days for Patino’s probable move, but it is almost certain that he will leave the Gunners at the conclusion of the season. Swansea play Rotherham on Saturday, but Patino is unlikely to start.
