‘Shocking’- Sunderland set to sell three key players this summer

Sunderland are preparing for another hectic summer, with the club still searching for a permanent successor to Michael Beale, who was fired earlier this year after only seven games in charge.

The Black Cats will also be active in the transfer market when the summer window opens after the 2023-24 season, with incomings predicted as well as some high-profile outgoings.

Sunderland are not anticipated to sell off all of their best players, but numerous first-team players have been linked with huge moves.

Here, we take a look at the main transfer headlines that you may have missed:

Jobe Bellingham latest

Lazio are reportedly interested in 18-year-old Sunderland junior sensation Jobe Bellingham this summer, as the Italian giants prepare for a youth-focused makeover under new coach Tudor.

Jobe is also reportedly garnering interest from European powerhouses Real Madrid, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur. Since joining Sunderland from Birmingham City last summer, Jobe has played 41 games and scored eight goals.

Anthony Patterson exit links

Anthony Patterson, Sunderland’s goalkeeper, is apparently garnering transfer interest ahead of the summer window. According to reports, Liverpool has been watching Patterson “closely” as they prepare for a potential vacancy during the postseason break.

Arsenal, Premier League title rivals, are also thought to be interested, as are Leeds United and Leicester City from the Championship. Celtic, the Scottish champions, have also been keeping an eye on the youngster this season as they seek a replacement for the retiring Joe Hart.

Patterson signed a new five-year contract last September and has been valued between £10 million and £20 million by various sites.

Jack Clarke transfer talk

Jack Clarke, a former Leeds United and Tottenham player, has two years left on his current contract amid transfer speculation. Burnley expressed interest in the 23-year-old last summer, prompting Lazio to make two approaches for him in January. Southampton are also reportedly interested in a £15 million deal.
