Newcastle United fans very disappointed by latest club announcement

Newcastle United has raised their season ticket pricing for the 2024-25 season.
Darren Eales has reacted to the Newcastle United Supporters’ Trust (NUST), which wrote to voice their worry about the escalating expense of attending Premier League games.

In a letter sent the club’s Chief Executive Officer on Tuesday, NUST asked:

  • ‘Resist the temptation to prioritise profit over people’
  • ‘Maintain affordable pricing aligned with the core values of Newcastle United’ i.e working class
  • ‘Be the club that goes against the grain’r
  • ‘Uphold the values of inclusivity, community, and passion’

After announcing a 3.3% increase in season ticket prices for the 2024-25 season, Eales reaffirmed Newcastle’s commitment to keeping football affordable, admitting that difficult decisions will be made as he “balances the needs of people and performance”.

The National University of Singapore said that it was “disappointed to read about the increase in season ticket prices for adults next season” and that they “will be releasing a statement relating to this shortly.”

Meanwhile, Eales wrote: “Dear Newcastle United Supporters Trust,

“Thank you for your thoughtful letter (dated April 9, 2024) on the pricing of football and your kind remarks. May I use this occasion to express good greetings to the NUST Board and commend you on your ongoing efforts on behalf of your members?

“I completely agree with your impassioned opinions on the club and our amazing supporters. Everything I’ve seen since my arrival in August 2022, including the warm welcome my family and I received, has further cemented my view that this is a really unique city and football club.

“You, the supporters, are the club’s lifeblood. I’ve often mentioned how vital your support is to our teams, and we mustn’t – and won’t – take it for granted. That is why we are committed to keeping football affordable and ensuring that everyone can join us on this exciting adventure.

“To continue progressing toward our ambitious goals, we must make difficult decisions along the road, and we have carefully reviewed our ticketing system for the upcoming season. Our goal has been to continue offering a variety of ticketing options that provide exceptional value and flexible payment methods, while remaining competitive on and off the field both now and in the future.

“We announced today that season ticket prices will increase by 3.3% for the 2024/25 season. This includes freezing junior tickets and increasing all other categories by 5%, while thousands of supporters on long-term price freeze deals continue to pay 2011 prices.
