Fabrizio Romano now shares huge update coming out of Newcastle United

According to Fabrizio Romano, Newcastle United midfielder Joelinton is close to signing a new contract at St James’ Park, as his present term is set to expire next summer.

The Brazilian international has been a vital player for Eddie Howe since the former Bournemouth manager joined the club, transitioning from striker to midfielder during his spell at St James’ Park. It’s going to be a big summer for Joelinton, with the Magpies hoping to lock him down before he leaves for free.

Joelinton to Sign New Contract

A new deal is advancing to its final stages.

Joelinton’s £85k-per-week contract is slated to expire in 2025, therefore Newcastle may be obliged to cash in if they are unable to sign him to a new agreement. The 27-year-old joined the club from Bundesliga side Hoffenheim for a cost of £40 million in 2019, so losing him for nothing would be disastrous.

According to Italian journalist Romano, Newcastle and Joelinton are nearing the end of their negotiations for a new contract. The Brazilian midfielder intends to stay with the club and is likely to sign on the dotted line at St James’ Park.

To maintain complying with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability requirements, Newcastle may be compelled to sell some of their key players in the near future. The Magpies do not appear to be eager to surrender Joelinton, and they may be protecting his worth by extending his contract with the club.

Bruno Guimaraes Could Leave Newcastle

The Brazilian may be sacrificed for FFP considerations.
During his daily briefing, Romano also discussed Bruno Guimaraes’ future at St James’ Park. The Italian reporter claims that the Magpies want to keep Guimaraes, but the former Lyon midfielder has a release clause in his contract, so he could be worth keeping an eye on during the summer transfer window.
