Breaking: Tua Tagovailoa drops ‘huge’ Dolphins contract update

At this time last year, there was a lot of talk about Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s summer work to prevent the concussions that would sideline him in 2022, and that preparation culminated in him playing every game for the squad.

Tagovailoa held a football camp on Oahu this weekend and stated that he is “not telling anyone what I’m doing this offseason” regarding his training methods. That isn’t the primary emphasis of this offseason, anyhow.

Tagovailoa is in the fifth and final year of his rookie contract, and the idea of a contract extension has been a key theme for the past few months.

The Dolphins described conversations regarding a deal with Tagovailoa as good a few weeks ago, and the quarterback had a similar response when asked where things stand.

“They have been good. “Right now, I’m letting my agent handle it,” Tagovailoa said KHON. “I’m focused on my family, on continuing to improve myself and my trade, and we’ll talk about it more when the time comes. For now, there will undoubtedly be exciting days ahead.”

While everyone is offering positive updates on how conversations are going, things still need to be completed, and a combination of previous injury difficulties and a poor finish to last season may be impediments to completing by the start of the 2024 season.

There will be no shortage of eyes watching the scenario in Miami as it unfolds.
