Everton will face serious charges for their second PSR infringement

Today is both D-Day and Groundhog Day for Everton, who once again can expect to learn the outcome of another PSR ruling.

The first resulted in the toughest points deduction in Premier League history, and while it was later lowered to six points, it remains a source of contention for many Evertonians.

Especially when Nottingham Forest, who allegedly disregarded the regulations to a greater extent, received only four points in their later case.

Each trial appears to set a new precedent, and because this technique is subjective, the conclusion is impossible to anticipate.

However, one man has attempted to anticipate the time frame for the release of such critical information.

Everton learn potential deduction time

Stefan Borson, a finance expert and former financial advisor for Manchester City, spoke with X about today’s proceedings.

It is widely assumed that a report detailing the scope of the Premier League and independent commission’s punishment for Everton, which was found guilty of violating PSR for the second time this season, will be released soon.

Little has been heard since, but the man who has recently made numerous appearances on talkSPORT to debate football money with Jim White and Simon Jordan has now adopted a time scale.

Borson stated only last night that Everton’s second IC decision is set to be announced tomorrow. If Forest timings are followed, the club and PL will find out in the morning, followed by the public at lunchtime.

Sean Dyche will be praying for a positive solution

While it may seem evident that Everton’s manager does not want another points deduction, a positive conclusion might mean a variety of things.

After all, his team’s laborious victory over a mediocre Burnley side on Saturday effectively changed the relegation battle into a five-horse race, bringing Crystal Palace and Brentford into the mix.

These teams are all vying for the final berth, should the Clarets and Sheffield United are eliminated.

So, with five points separating 18th-placed Luton Town and 14th-placed Crystal Palace, and the Toffees only one point behind the latter, they are in a position of considerable strength at the moment.

However, anything more than a one or two-point deduction would entirely reverse the situation and send them back into upheaval.

A positive outcome is one which ends this PSR saga for good and still leaves Sean Dyche with survival in his hands. After all, with their favourable fixtures all against those around them, keeping their head above water even before entering this run could be paramount.
