Yankuba Minteh, on loan from Newcastle United, played in Feyenoord’s 6-0 victory over Ajax on Sunday.
The winger scored two goals and assisted once against the Amsterdam club, earning him a spot in Algemeen Dagblad’s weekly team. In fact, the Dutch publication praised the 19-year-old as the finest in the Eredivisie, giving him the maximum grade of 9/10.
Willem van Hangegem, writing in his AD column, has criticized Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag for defending Newcastle’s player.
The Dutch media has occasionally chastised the Gambia international for failing to locate his teammates while attacking.
Minteh has received support from Van Hangegem following his outstanding performance against Ajax. He did so by mentioning Manchester United’s manager and his tactics.
“People can keep whining about Yankuba Minteh, but he’s keeping me on the edge of my seat. He defends at the highest level and continues to look for his man,” he stated.
“Of course, he occasionally makes the wrong decision.” So, what? At Manchester United, every player makes the wrong decision almost the entire game, and we pretend that Erik ten Hag just needs some time.”
Manchester United have struggled in the league this season, winning none of their last three games. According to recent reports in England, Ten Hag’s future at Old Trafford is questionable, despite his desire to be a part of INEOS’ new project next season.
Meanwhile, Minteh has stated that Newcastle will have to decide where he will play next season.
