According to a report, AC Milan and Davide Calabria have made little headway in contract extension talks, but there is no reason to fear at this time.
According to TMW, Calabria is Milan’s captain and has been with the academy since he was a child, but his contract expires in 2025, at the end of next season.
The talks between the parties, i.e., the player and the club, have heated up in recent weeks. Currently, however, the situation appears to be in a’stalemate’.
According to sources close to the situation, Milan would like to extend Calabria’s contract until 2027 while keeping his present income of €2 million net each season, while the full-back will undoubtedly seek a wage increase.
While we wait to see how things will play out, it is possible that talks for the role of right-back will take place in the summer, with the possibility of a player arriving to give competition.
Calabria recently reinforced his affection for the red and black shirt in an interview with Radio Serie A, hinting at the possibility of staying for life.
“For me, Milan means everything; it has been my life up till now. “I grew up in an AC Milan family, and I went to the stadium with them before I wore this shirt,” he explained.
“I was six years old when I first visited San Siro for a Champions League match. Milan had an outstanding team, one of the best in football history. In my room, I had a poster of Kakà’s legendary celebration with his fingers raised to heaven.
“I also had some non-original clothes because that was all I could afford at the time, but I believe I was able to recover over time.
“Would I commit to life with Milan? Why not? This jersey will always be a part of me; people know who I am, the kids know who I am, and I will always represent Milan: staying in this family would be a huge honor for me.”
