Milan is attempting to manage some high-profile extensions, but a pair of less well-publicized ones are closer to completion, as they are in advanced talks with Yacine Adli and Davide Calabria. Their captain is just on a one-year contract, but he is unlikely to depart. Instead, Calciomercato reports that the Frenchman is under contract with them until 2026.
The Rossoneri intend to reward the midfielder for his development this season. He was more likely to go than stay last summer after becoming an afterthought in his first Serie A season. Instead, he has developed into a valuable backup and fill-in starter at a new position. He has one of the lowest incomes in the squad, earning €800k.
Calabria and Adli are planning to stay in Milan for several years. The fullback earns €2 million per year and requests a decent rise. He recently expressed his commitment to the team, claiming he was willing to continue his career with them.
The 27-year-old is a Rossoneri youth product and has never played for another club. He’s made 253 appearances since becoming a regular back in 2018.
Our Take on Milan, Calabria, and Adli
The sums will not be large, therefore it’s a no-brainer in both cases. On the other hand, a more explosive and offensive-minded right back would round out their scheme, which is imbalanced when Theo Hernandez and Rafael Leao are on the field.
