AS Monaco midfielder Youssouf Fofana has expressed strong interest in a prospective move to AC Milan, with a low-cost deal in the works.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (as shown below), Milan believes Fofana is the appropriate type of midfielder to provide greater stability next season because he is defensively sound but can also help construct attacks.
He will be out of contract with Monaco in the summer of 2025, and the French club is currently seeking €30 million for his services. Given that he will only have one year left on his contract by the summer transfer window, Milan believes this may be reduced to around €20 million with moderate discussion.
The athlete is thought to be interested in making the move, but he may need to make a decision quickly. He is anticipated to be in France’s Euro 2024 squad, and Didier Deschamps has requested his players to resolve any transfer issues before the tournament in Germany begins.
As a result, a decision on his future may be made between the end of the season in May and the start of the Euros in mid-June, but Milan would also need to act quickly to provide him with a choice.
