On Saturday afternoon, Newcastle United narrowly defeated West Ham.
While Newcastle’s Premier League season has not been easy, St James’ Park roared on the final whistle as Eddie Howe’s team rallied from behind to defeat the Hammers 4-3.
The Magpies appeared to have thrown the game away, falling behind 3-1 after Alexander Isak’s penalty. Tino Livramento, Miguel Almiron, and Jamaal Lascelles all had to leave the game due to injuries, but the home side found a way.
Anthony Gordon was superb, contributing to all of Newcastle’s goals until he was sent off for a second yellow card in the dying moments of the game. Meanwhile, Harvey Barnes scored two late goals to secure a truly legendary victory.
Not even all of that captures how fantastic the game was to watch.
Alan Shearer, on the other hand, has perhaps summarized it best.

Newcastle proved their fighting spirit against West Ham
This season has been difficult for a variety of reasons.
An injury crisis and issues with summer recruits have made things extremely difficult. Still, the Newcastle team’s fighting spirit is rarely questioned.
They may not always persuade, but they hardly fail to compete.
Barnes had a terrific afternoon. He’s battled to adjust to bizarre injury problems, but days like this one highlight what a talented player Newcastle has on their hands.
Barnes seems to have made a genuine impression on the Newcastle fans at this point. We had to be patient with him, but he put on an impressive performance.
While injury concerns and Gordon’s suspension arose throughout the game, Newcastle demonstrated that their season is far from over.
