Transfer: Saudi Pro League club now wants to sign Milan star

At the moment, Simon Kjaer’s chances of staying at AC Milan till next season appear slim, and a probable destination has arisen.

According to this morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (shown below), there is a sigh of relief over Kjaer’s physical health after he was substituted after around 65 minutes of the friendly between Denmark and Switzerland on Friday.

The centre-back got an MRI scan, which revealed no muscle injuries, therefore he will be eligible for the Danish national team’s next friendly encounter against the Faroe Islands tomorrow evening at Brondby’s stadium.

The paper also discussed Kjaer’s future beyond the end of the season, stating that it is doubtful that he will sign an extension to his present contract, which expires in June.

If the 34-year-old’s contract with Milan expires after four and a half seasons, where may he play? According to La Gazzetta, he could join the Saudi Pro League, where clubs have been courting him for months.

He is not the only player who may travel to the Middle East; Juan Cuadrado and Alexis Sánchez of Inter, Nahitan Nández of Cagliari, Chris Smalling, and Romelu Lukaku of Roma (the latter owned by Chelsea) might all be in Saudi Arabia by 2024-25.
