According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Rafael Leao swapped shirts with Viktor Gyokeres following the Portugal-Sweden match on Thursday, implying that the Milan star is already on good terms with one of the Rossoneri’s transfer targets for next summer.
Leao scored a goal in Portugal’s 5-2 victory over Sweden on Thursday, and according to Gazzetta, he made a transfer hint to Milan after the game. According to page 16 of Monday’s printed version of the newspaper, Leao approached the Sweden striker after the game and asked him to swap shirts.
Gyokeres hailed the Rossoneri star in a post-match interview, saying, “He is a terrific player, and I love his work. He told me I had played well, and I replied that he hadn’t been bad at all.”
Leao’s shirt swap on Thursday was the latest indication that he respects Gyokeres. The two strikers already follow each other on Instagram, and Milan director Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is one of Leao’s mentors at the Stadio Meazza, might play an important part in convincing his compatriot to join the Rossoneri this summer.
According to Gazzetta, Gyokeres’ contract with Sporting CP includes a €100 million release clause, but Milan hopes the Portuguese team will start bargaining around €50 million.
Gyokeres, 25, has been in excellent form for his side this season, scoring 36 goals in 39 games across all competitions.
