Adidas will manufacture Newcastle United’s shirts beginning next season, and anticipation is building for what the new strips will look like in 2024/25.
The club has been with Castro since 2021. That contract, which was signed under previous owner Mike Ashley, was supposed to stretch until 2026, but it was stated last year that it would be cut short and a deal with Adidas was reached.
It’s a return to a familiar manufacturer for Newcastle, who supplied the club’s uniforms for 15 years between 1995 and 2010. The multi-year contract also helps the club’s finances despite Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) concerns.
The return of Adidas coincides with a refurbishment of the club’s shop at the end of the season. While the restoration takes place during the summer, a temporary outlet will be installed opposite.
The current international break allows fans and clubs to reflect on the previous season and plan for the current one. The Adidas partnership has sparked enthusiasm among fans, with conjecture increasing over what the new uniforms would look like.
As a result, ChronicleLive investigated the ‘leaks’ that were going viral. There could be some hints in the forthcoming Euro competition, as shirts are unveiled.
Kit details leaked
Newcastle shirt collector Retro_NUFC shared information on the new kit on social media in December, and Footy Headlines shared some concept kits. The 2024/25 home kit is expected to be similar to the 2001/2003 kit, with simple black and white stripes and a V-neck design. Grey may be used for the Adidas logo, collar, and panels on the side and back of the shirt. The away kit will be similar to the 1995/96 kit.
Pictures suggest that the third kit will be primarily white with black and green accents. It is claimed to be inspired by the Adidas EQT style, with the company adopting the Newcastle badge from the 1980s as another hint at what the kit would look like.
Adidas hints
Another method to obtain ideas about what might be in store for Newcastle under Adidas is to look at some of the international shirts released by the business prior to Euro 2024.
All international kits, including those of Spain, Germany, Belgium, and Italy, include colour detail on the edge of the side panels of both the home and away shirts. Germany wears black on a simple white uniform, whereas Spain wears yellow on a simple red shirt.
As with other teams, the away kit has allowed for more inventiveness. Germany has a color fade from pink to blue, whereas Scotland, Spain, and Wales have greater pattern design on the side panel of their away shirts.
