Viktor Gyökeres has caught the eye of AC Milan as a potential candidate for the No.9 position, with competition expected to be intense. However, Milan has a strategic approach, with indications suggesting it might be Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s time to shine once more.
The striker from Sporting Lisbon has had an impressive season, tallying 36 goals and 14 assists, attracting attention from several top clubs. Milan, among them, as per a report from Gazzetta dello Sport.
Although Gyökeres has a €100m release clause in his contract, Sporting typically sets high clauses, and the actual price would likely be around €50m or more. Sporting acknowledges that much hinges on the player’s preference, knowing they stand to gain a substantial profit regardless.
While Milan recognizes the significant investment required for a No.9, they face tough competition from Arsenal and Chelsea.
However, Milan possesses a unique asset in Ibrahimovic, whom Gyökeres idolizes and has previously played alongside in the Swedish national team. Ibrahimovic’s keen interest in Gyökeres’ season suggests his influence could sway the decision.
