Breaking news: Bucs complete another important signing

The Bucs have spent the summer re-signing players. Mike Evans, Baker Mayfield, Lavonte David, and Chase McLaughlin have all returned, and Jordan Whitehead, despite not being a re-signing, has returned to the Bucs after spending two seasons with the Jets.

On Friday, Tampa Bay added to its list of re-signings. They announced the signing of core special teamer Zach Triner. This season will be Triner’s sixth with the team, having signed with them in 2019.

He won a Super Bowl with the Bucs in 2020 and has been a staple of Tampa Bay’s special teams year after year.

Triner has played 75 regular-season games and nine postseason games. In 2021, he missed eight games due to a finger injury, which placed him on injured reserve.

Triner was on the injury report a few times during the week last season due to a hip issue, but he played every game. Triner has ten career tackles.

Bucs Special Teams Heading Into Next Season

Tampa Bay re-signed kicker Chase McLaughlin earlier this offseason, reuniting the special teams combo of McLaughlin, Triner, and punter Jake Camarda. McLaughlin had a stellar year, converting every extra point and making more than 90% of his field goals.

Camarda was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Month for September, after winning Special Teams Player of the Week in Week 2. He is widely regarded as one of the league’s best punters.

The Bucs maintain a very strong group of kickers. This season, they will work with a new special teams coach, Thomas McGaughey, who was appointed in February. They will strive to build on their previous successes as a group.
