Sunderland injury boost as 6 first-team players return

Sunderland U21s’ team news for their Premier League 2 match against Newcastle United at the Academy of Light.

Sunderland have chosen a strong squad for their under-21s game against Newcastle, with Bradley Dack and Corry Evans returning from injury setbacks.

Evans has been out for nearly a year with an ACL injury, and Dack has been out since Boxing Day owing to a

hamstring problem. Pierre Ekwah, Timothee Pembele, Mason Burstow, and goalie Nathan Bishop will also start for

the youthful Black Cats at the Academy of Light.

Teenage winger Tom Watson has also been out due to a hamstring injury, but has been named to Sunderland’s bench.

Sunderland U21s XI to play Newcastle: Bishop, Pembele, Fieldson, Bainbridge, Lavery, Evans, Ekwah, Jones, Kelly, Dack, Burstow

Subs: Bell, Chiabi, Watson, Burke, Ryder
