Ex-Black Cat now picks his next Sunderland manager

Brian Deane, an ex-Sunderland player, has provided his assessment on three probable contenders to pursue the head coach post.
Brian Deane, a former Sunderland player, has weighed in on three likely contenders for the club’s head coaching position this summer.

Mike Dodds is now serving as interim head coach following the dismissal of Michael Beale earlier this year. Since then, Scott Parker, Roy Keane, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have all been connected to the position.

“I have played against both Ole and Roy (Keane) as players and managed against Ole when I was over in Norway, and Ole has a different style to Roy clearly – you can see that with the two personalities,” Deane said in an interview with Seven Jackpots by Online Casino.

“Ole has accomplished a lot as a manager, and his approach may be different and more likely to listen to others than Roy’s, but that doesn’t imply either is the best way to do it.

I believe that at a club like Sunderland, you need someone who understands what it is like to be in match scenarios, and I believe that both of them have played and managed in high-pressure situations, so either of them would be ideal choices.

“I came from an era when you can’t accomplish anything without passion, and people have different ways of expressing emotion, but both Ole and Roy have enough of it, and either would be a terrific fit for a team like Sunderland.

Deane was also asked about Parker: “I believe so, because Scott had a really good record at Fulham, did well at Bournemouth, and then went poorly when they were promoted. I’m not sure if that works against him or not. When you’re from the North, you understand that people want blood, sweat, and tears on their jerseys, and while they want to be entertained, they expect the players to give their all.

That’s why I believe Solskjaer and Keane have it in their DNA.”

Sunderland were held to a goalless draw against QPR at the Stadium of Light in the Championship last Saturday. In a game with little chances, Mike Dodds’ team ended a six-game losing streak while keeping their first clean sheet since New Year’s Day. Sunderland now sits 12th in the Championship table, with eight games remaining this season.
