A four-star Class of 2025 wide receiver who visited Tennessee many times last year is scheduled to attend one of the Vols’ spring practices this week.
After attending a few of Tennessee’s home games last season, Dillon Alfred plans to return to Knoxville for one of the Vols’ practices. The four-star Class of 2025 wide receiver from Saraland (Ala.) High School announced Sunday on his X account that he will return to Tennessee on Monday for the team’s first spring practice.
Alfred, who stands 5 feet 11 and weighs 175 pounds, received a scholarship offer from Tennessee over ten months ago, in late May, after doing well at the Vols’ first camp last year.
He returned to Tennessee three times during the 2023 season, most recently attending the Vols’ game against Texas A&M on October 14.
He tagged Tennessee coach Josh Heupel and wide receivers coach Kelsey Pope in a post on his X account on Sunday, where he stated his plans to visit Knoxville this week.
“It’s been a minute, Vol Nation, but I’ll be back at @Vol_Football tomorrow!! “#RockyTop,” Alfred wrote, alongside a pair of orange emoticons.
Alfred has earned offers from over 15 colleges, including Missouri, Arkansas, Auburn, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Penn State, South Carolina, Texas A&M, and Vanderbilt.
He has booked an official visit to Missouri during the weekend of June 7, and Arkansas will welcome him on the weekend of June 21.
He is a four-star recruit in the industry-generated 247Sports Composite, where he is listed as the No. 372 overall player, No. 51 wide receiver in the 2025 class, and No. 17 junior from Alabama. According to 247Sports, he is a three-star prospect ranked as the No. 47 wide receiver in the 2025 class and the No. 19 junior from Alabama.
The lone prediction on the 247Sports Crystal Ball has Missouri as the favorite to land Alfred, who attended Gautier (Miss.) High School before transferring to Saraland for his junior year.
He told Brandon Huffman earlier this month that the Tigers were at the top of his list.
“When I went up there for a visit, they showed a lot of love to me and my family,” Alfred told Missouri resident Huffman. “Coach Drink (Eli Drinkwitz) and I have daily chats, and we have a great relationship. You watch Luther Burden make big plays and see what they do with him. They have no trouble taking shots down the field.”
Earlier this month, Alfred informed Huffman that he intended to visit Clemson, Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Florida, Texas A&M, and Texas this spring. One of his Saraland classmates, four-star Class of 2025 quarterback KJ Lacey, has committed to the Longhorns.
Alfred also informed Huffman earlier this month that he was close to scheduling an official visit with Texas A&M.
Alfred alluded to Tennessee as his leader several times last year. After his most recent trip to Knoxville, he stated that the Vols remained “number one on my list” at the moment.
“I enjoyed it, guy. “It feels like home every time I come up here,” he added in October. “I am used to everything because I have been up here so many times. My family and I have a terrific time every time we come up here.”
Prior to Tennessee’s Oct. 14 victory over Texas A&M, he attended games against Austin Peay on Sept. 9 and South Carolina on Sept. 30.
“Every time I come up here, I get this feeling that I’ve never had before,” Alfred told GoVols247 in October. “It’s the relationship I have with my coaches. I see myself in the system they run, which is why I rank them at the top. They are currently number one on my list. They had been up there for a while.”
