Liverpool will want to keep hold of one of their finest assets this summer.
Liverpool could lose prodigy Bobby Clark to Newcastle as his father Lee said that seeing his son play for the Magpies
is his ‘ultimate ambition’. Lee Clark is a well-known character on Tyneside, and he has stated that he wants his son to follow in his footsteps.
Clark Snr made 265 appearances for Newcastle’s fondly remembered 1990s club. He is one of several former players whose children have made an impact at Anfield this season.
Clark, a teenage midfielder, earned his Liverpool debut last season and has since appeared 13 times for the senior club.
Jurgen Klopp praised the academy graduate, who scored his first professional goal in the Reds’ 6-1 Europa League victory over Sparta Prague on Thursday night.
Liverpool has big aspirations for Clark, even once Klopp leaves at the conclusion of the season. The next manager will take over a team packed of potential, with the 19-year-old among the most promising players.
However, the Merseysiders will need to dissuade any interest from Newcastle, as father Lee has revealed that seeing his son play for the Magpies is his ‘ultimate ambition’. Clark has encouraged Bobby to ‘do an Alan Shearer’ and join his boyhood club later in his career.
