Maignan fitness update after injury in Europa League

Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan will have medical tests on his damaged knee today, but coach Stefano Pioli believes

the Frenchman has not sustained a serious injury.

Maignan was pulled off the game after only 21 minutes of Milan’s 3-1 victory over Slavia Praha on Thursday.

During a post-match press conference, Pioli provided an update on the goalkeeper’s fitness: “Mike felt soreness in his knee. However, there appears to be nothing to worry about. We’ll see, but I can assure you it won’t last long,” stated the Rossoneri coach, as quoted by Milannews.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Maignan will have medical tests in Milan this morning.

The France goalkeeper has suffered a blunt-force trauma to his right knee, although the articulations appear to be stable, according to Sky Sport.

The France international even made a save with his damaged leg before being replaced at minute 20 last night in Prague.

Maignan had 14 clean sheets in 36 games this season, surrendering 45 goals.

Milan advanced to the Europa League quarterfinals with a 7-2 aggregate win over Slavia. Today, they’ll find out who their opponents are for the following round.
