Leicester City, Leeds United, Ipswich Town, and Southampton are all battling for the top two spots.
Only nine points separate the top four teams, and that gap might be reduced to six if Southampton wins their game in hand over Preston North End.
Leicester remain in first place, but their 17-point lead over Leeds has been reduced to three following an outstanding run of form by Daniel Farke’s side, with Ipswich only a point behind.
It seems highly conceivable that all four teams will comfortably pass the 90-point mark by the end of the season, with the level at the top rarely, if ever, seen before.
On the newest episode of the Seaman Says Podcast, David Seaman believes the three relegated sides will be promoted, with Leeds edging out Leicester for the title.
Seaman backs relegated trio for promotion
He responded, “I believe the three that fell will rise. I’m not going to claim you [Southampton] will beat Leeds [to second place], am I? You might beat Leicester because we’re going to win the league.”
Leeds, Leicester, and Southampton are unquestionably the favourites due to the strength of their individual teams, but Ipswich have just been outstanding this season.
Cardiff City ended their six-game winning streak at the weekend by conceding two stoppage-time goals, dropping them out of the top two. It will be interesting to witness their reactions.
Leicester, meantime, had been miles ahead at the top, but a run of just one win in five has drawn them right back in, and Leeds now clearly has a chance at the crown.
Southampton’s ability to score points away from Ipswich, Leicester, and Leeds will be critical. A couple of defeats will most likely put an end to their aspirations of finishing in the top two.
