Ian Wright has delivered a very interesting verdict on Bruno Guimaraes

Newcastle United struggled all over the pitch against Chelsea on Monday night, including Bruno Guimaraes.

That is the opinion of Ian Wright, who was disappointed with the 26-year-old’s performance at Stamford Bridge.

Bruno Guimaraes was significantly below his typical standard, which pretty well summed up the entire Toon effort. It was unrecognizable from last week, when Eddie Howe outwitted Gary O’Neil to defeat Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-0.

On Monday, Newcastle gave Chelsea an advantage. This season, Mauricio Pochettino’s squad has repeatedly struggled against a low block. However, the Magpies made no meaningful attempt to absorb up pressure and attack Chelsea on the break.

It ended with a 3-2 defeat for Newcastle in the capital, leaving their European hopes hanging by a thread.

There were many terrible performances in black and white, and Ian Wright believes one of them came from Bruno.

Wright spoke on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football coverage and commented on Bruno’s performance.

“I thought Guimaraes was very poor,” he told me.

“Couldn’t get himself away from the fact Conor Gallagher was in an around him, not enough movement from him.”Almiron had to be brought off, which was sad for Gordon, but in general, Livramento attempted, but overall, a very terrible effort.”
