It is critical for Newcastle United that Eddie Howe and the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) plan their transfer strategy correctly this summer.
After an unimpressive season in 2023/24 for the Magpies, in order for the club to go forward, particularly in light of Dan Ashworth’s departure, the various components of the club must be precisely matched in many ways.
Financial Fair Play will continue to cause havoc on a lot of European teams, and it is unclear how much Howe will have available in his summer transfer budget.
One thing is apparent, however, and that is one player above all others that the club wants to secure as part of their transfer strategy moving forward.
Newcastle want to tie down Joelinton to a new deal
“Newcastle’s contract strategy over the next few months is going to be crucial,” Fabrizio Romano told CaughtOffside in his exclusive Daily Brief.
“For Joelinton, the idea is on the table, and they want to work hard to maintain him since he’s a crucial component of the team.
“Then, Newcastle will discuss their summer plans around May, as soon as they know what’s happening with regards to European football.”
Howe transformed the 27-year-old Brazilian into a marauding midfielder, and he has been a vital component of the club’s style of play since.
He works so well with countryman Bruno Guimaraes in Newcastle’s midfield, and when both are in form, the Magpies are a lot more difficult team to beat.
It is unclear at this time whether the player will look elsewhere, but with Guimaraes already committed his immediate future to the St. James’ Park club, there is reason to believe that Joelinton will follow suit.
