Milan star has refused to sign new contract and will be replaced

A lot of the interest and conjecture around AC Milan’s summer transfer plans is around the signing of a centre-forward, but there is another important issue to consider.

This morning’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) discusses how Milan’s management believes second or third place is insufficient and plans to make significant changes in the coming summer.

Of course, the most important choice will be the future of head coach Stefano Pioli, because only after the head coach is in place – whether he is retained or dismissed – would Geoffrey Moncada be able to look into recruitment that fits the manager’s style and configuration.

With a new striker as the priority, the rest of the window will follow, but Milan may acquire a central defender to replace Simon Kjaer, according to the daily, given that the Dane’s contract is ending and has yet to be renewed.

 

 

Tosin Adarabioyo (Fulham), Maxence Lacroix (Wolfsburg), and Lilian Brassier (Brest) are among the probable recruits, with the former available on free transfer and the latter two having been connected for several weeks.

A number of different teams have been connected with a transfer for Kjaer, whose contract expires in a few months, and his agent spoke out regarding his client’s future a couple of weeks ago, admitting there is interest.
