Breaking news: Zlatan Ibrahimovic picks Milan’s next manager

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, serving as a senior advisor to Milan’s ownership group and senior management, has a specific candidate in mind to succeed the current coach, Stefano Pioli, when his time at San Siro eventually concludes.

According to SempreMilan, Ibrahimovic’s preferred replacement for Pioli is Antonio Conte.

Conte has been without a managerial position for nearly a year since departing from Premier League side Tottenham on March 26, 2023. Reports over the past 11 months suggest that Conte is taking his time to carefully consider which project would be the best fit for him.

Numerous outlets have suggested a potential return to Italy with either Milan or Napoli in recent months. The Bayern Munich role has also surfaced in discussions, and there is speculation that Conte might consider a third Premier League job.

In the Milan camp, it’s evident that Ibrahimovic will play a significant role in discussions regarding the next Rossoneri coach.

Ibrahimovic recently joined RedBird owner Gerry Cardinale at the Financial Times Business of Football summit in London. During the event, Cardinale took the opportunity to clarify Ibrahimovic’s day-to-day roles and responsibilities.

Cardinale highlighted that Ibrahimovic has the authority to oversee club staff in the absence of the top management.

Moreover, as a Senior Advisor to the board with over 20 years of experience in European football, Ibrahimovic’s opinions on the sporting side of the operation are highly valued, Cardinale emphasized.
