HITC knows that AC Milan believes they are dominating the hunt for Viktor Gyokeres, but there is growing interest in bringing him back to England this summer.
The Swedish striker has emerged as one of Europe’s most sought-after forwards following a brilliant debut season with Sporting Lisbon.
Gyokeres chose to join Sporting in the hopes of making an impression, and he has already scored over 30 goals this season.
Milan watching
Milan has been watching Gyokeres since before Christmas, and they believe he would be a great fit for the San Siro.
Milan appear to have a busy summer ahead, with valued Portuguese asset Rafa Leao emerging as a target for a number of clubs, notably Paris Saint-Germain, who see him as a potential replacement for Kylian Mbappe. The fact that Luis Campos, who formerly worked at Lille in France, is in charge of PSG’s recruitment could be significant.
And, if Milan has the Leao money to spend, it is believed that Gyokeres is their major aim.
As with many Portuguese-based talents, HITC understands that the number of clubs interested in Gyokeres has been steadily increasing, with sources claiming that over half of the Premier League has especially looked into the Swedish international.
English interest
Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham, and West Ham are all thought to have kept an eye on the player since the turn of the year, as all of them appear to be looking for a forward this summer.
Despite the attention from England – Gyokeres has spent time in the UK – HITC is told that he is not prioritising a return, which Milan is aware of.
Gyokeres joined Sporting from Coventry and has a €100 million release clause, though it remains to be seen what type of deal can be struck.
