Club now sweating over fitness of key man ahead of Burnley v Bournemouth clash

Bournemouth are concerned about the fitness of their top striker Dominic Solanke ahead of their trip to Burnley this weekend.
The 26-year-old, who has 16 goals this season, missed the Cherries’ FA Cup defeat to Leicester City Friday night due to a knee injury.

Manager Andoni Iraola thinks the striker’s injury is not serious, but he is a doubt for Sunday’s match at Turf Moor.

“He wasn’t feeling good. “He had some knee issues,” he explained. “It didn’t appear to be a major deal, but he wasn’t prepared to participate.

“It is never a good time to lose your leading scorer. I’m hoping it’s nothing major and he can help us in the upcoming games.

“We just had an MRI today (Tuesday), so we need to see what he has, assess him, and see how he wakes up tomorrow. From there, we’ll see.

“We chose not to risk him today because he was not feeling good. You never want to lose your leading scorer.

Bournemouth lost another striker to injury in their 1-0 loss to Leicester, as Enes Unal was taken off at halftime due to a collarbone ailment.

“I think Enes is going to be more difficult (to recover) because at the end he didn’t want to go out, but he had a really bad knock,” he said.

“We’ll see. I hope it’s not too horrible. However, anything involving bones is usually extremely risky.

“I believe Dom has more chances. It’s very horrible to leave the competition and lose two number nines on the same night.”
