Miami Dolphins Boast Record-Breaking Participation and Fundraising at 14th Annual Dolphins Challenge Cancer, surpassing $75M Commitment in Support of Innovative Cancer Research

The 14th annual Dolphins Challenge Cancer (DCC XIV) saw the Miami Dolphins teaming up with the South Florida community to raise funds for cutting-edge cancer research at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, a part of UHealth – the University of Miami Health System. The event took place on Saturday, February 24, at Hard Rock Stadium.

DCC XIV set records, bringing together 6,702 participants and raising over $12 million, surpassing last year’s fundraising efforts and fulfilling the Miami Dolphins’ $75 million commitment to Sylvester two years ahead of schedule. This remarkable achievement highlights the community’s collaborative support in the fight against cancer.

Javier Sanchez, Executive Director of Dolphins Challenge Cancer, expressed gratitude for the community’s dedication and emphasized the impact of collective efforts in advancing cancer care and treatment in South Florida. The event’s success was further enhanced by facility updates at Hard Rock Stadium, providing participants and fans with an enhanced experience.

Dr. Stephen D. Nimer, director of Sylvester, acknowledged the vital role of community support in advancing cancer research and improving treatments. The annual event celebrates survivors while raising crucial funds for research to benefit more individuals affected by cancer.

Established in 2010, the Dolphins Challenge Cancer quickly gained traction in the South Florida community, supported by the Miami Dolphins organization. This year’s event introduced new ride distances named after Dolphins legends in the Pro Football Hall of Fame, offering participants various ways to contribute to the cause.

Over 20 Dolphins players, along with head coach Mike McDaniel, alumni, and executives, actively participated in the event, underscoring the organization’s commitment to the cause. The event concluded with a post-event concert featuring Chaka Khan, adding to the celebratory atmosphere.

The Dolphins Challenge Cancer continues to make a significant impact, with all funds raised directly supporting innovative cancer research at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. Through partnerships and community engagement, the DCC remains a vital initiative in the fight against cancer.
