Darko Churlinov was clearly not in Vincent Kompany’s plans at Burnley, thus he was loaned to Schalke 04 for the rest of the season.
The 23-year-old is likely to conclude the season with the 2. Bundesliga club, which will then decide whether to keep the Clarets winger permanently.
The main issue for Schalke 04 right now is their poor league position, which means they are on the verge of being demoted once more, this time to the third tier, and their recent loss prompted the Burnley loanee to react passionately, as reported by WAZ.
Covering the weekend’s 3-0 loss to Magdeburg, the site focused on the forward, who was in tears when he went to visit the travelling fans.
They claim that as the squad thanked the fans for their support, he ‘got emotional and cried in front of the visitors’ corner’, while they yelled “We want to see you fight” at their players.
According to reports, the player’really wanted’ to return to Schalke 04 after his original successful tenure there and assist the club avoid relegation.
However, he has only been able to do so on occasion recently, and his performance against Magdeburg was forgettable, as he was ‘totally unnoticeable’ despite being in the starting lineup before being substituted at halftime.
If the Germans want to make the move permanent, they will have to pay Burnley between €2 and €3 million for him, but if they are relegated, that fee will be too expensive.
