While Roberto De Zerbi is unlikely to quit the Premier League, he could return to Italy and coach AC Milan, according to a journalist.
Michele Criscitiello of Sportitalia wrote a post late last night that provided an update on De Zerbi’s future, who is presently in charge of Brighton, who will meet Roma in the Europa League last 16.
He adds that the former Sassuolo manager ‘may leave Brighton at the end of the season, but not the Premier League’ because the top five clubs in England are all following his situation and are huge fans of his work.
According to the journalist, there are other prospects in Spain, but his’madness would force him to analyze Italian teams’ because he has such a deep attachment to his native country.
“He loves Milan. After Brescia (and possibly Foggia), he has Diavolo in his DNA. Because he grew up in Milanello, he could do for the Rossoneri what he couldn’t as a player. Criscitiello adds that the only certainty in De Zerbi’s career is that he will never coach Atalanta.
While there are still many games left this season and many points to be won, there is still conjecture over who will be Milan’s head coach next season, given that Stefano Pioli is approaching the end of his five-year contract and another trophy-less season is possible.
