Johann Berg Gudmundsson has admitted Burnley’s dressing room is “feeling it” following another humiliating defeat.
Crystal Palace handily defeated the Clarets 3-0 on Saturday in what was dubbed a must-win game.
Burnley made it difficult for themselves by falling down to ten men in the first half after Josh Brownhill was awarded a straight red.
While the visitors held on for as long as they could at Selhurst Park, Oliver Glasner’s side ultimately broke through in the 68th minute, scoring the first of three goals in less than ten minutes.
Gudmundsson could not hide his disappointment at the final whistle, as the Clarets made yet another costly blunder.
“I’m extremely disappointed,” he told Clarets+.
“Going down to 10 men is always extremely difficult away in the Premier League, but we were still in it and I thought we fought hard to keep the clean sheet until half-time.”After their first goal, we needed to open up more, but they scored two more goals. We also scored a goal that should have been permitted, which was frustrating. The locker room is clearly experiencing it all, but this is football.”
The Clarets put up some resistance with 10 men, but the floodgates quickly opened as Palace broke the tie.
“They get the cross and the header for the first goal, which is something we have to do better on and keep it 0-0 for longer,” Gudmundsson said in a statement.
“When you go 1-0, you have to go a little higher up the pitch and threaten their goal a little bit more, so it’s always tough.”
