Crystal Palace’s first Premier League game under Oliver Glasner will be against Burnley at Selhurst Park on Saturday.
The Eagles fired Roy Hodgson last week and swiftly appointed Glasner in his place.
Chris Sutton believes that while the new manager will not be able to tackle all problems immediately, the environment at Selhurst Park will not be toxic.
The new Palace manager has stated that he does not have the time to establish a new tactical style before of this encounter. So all he can do is encourage his guys to take their best shot.
Palace’s previous encounter against Everton ended in a 1-1 draw on Monday night. He stated that he was impressed by the Palace fans’ support in the previous game, but accepts that he cannot create magic overnight.
Burnley suffered a 5-0 defeat to Arsenal in their previous game, and Sutton does not believe the Clarets will win either. He predicts Crystal Palace to pick up a 1-0 win for this game.
“The Clarets have a far better chance versus Palace, although the Eagles are a bit of an unknown entity in Oliver Glasner’s debut game as manager.
“You cannot just switch overnight from one playing style to another, so it is going to take time for Glasner to make a difference, but there should be a positive atmosphere at Selhurst Park and I can see the new manager ‘bounce’ working for them here.”
Crystal Palace lurch in a fresh direction
The Eagles sit 15th in the Premier League table, just five points ahead of Luton Town. They have only one Premier League win in 2024, and the club took the correct decision to remove Hodgson from his position.
Palace have only won two of their last 14 Premier League games. They have not won any of their last three Premier League games, indicating that the club’s status is far from optimal.
Burnley are extremely guaranteed to slide down the Championship after only 13 points thus far. They have only three Premier League wins under Vincent Kompany and have gone winless in their previous seven games.
This is an excellent opportunity for Palace to secure a crucial victory, and Sutton believes they will do so.
