Sunderland confirm the signing of a new manager

Sunderland has acquired another manager to its Academy of Light.

James Thwaite, who was born in Teesside, will start working part-time at the club as a Youth Development Phase (YDP) Coach in the Academy of Light, mostly with the under-15 and under-16 age groups.

Thwaite wrote on social media after assuming the job: “Very pleased to be starting a new coaching role at @SunderlandAFC Academy – looking forward to a new chapter at an awesome club”

Thwaite has past coaching experience, including work at York City and other organizations. Thwaite is also a UEFA A Licence trained coach with a teaching experience, making him an ideal candidate to work with Sunderland’s younger players.
