Injury: Wolves could be without 24-year-old star for the rest of the season

Matheus Cunha’s participation in the final weeks of Wolves’ season is uncertain after being sidelined from Brazil’s upcoming friendly against England due to a hamstring injury sustained in a recent match against Brentford.

While Wolves have refrained from specifying a timeline for his recovery, Brazil coach Dorival Junior confirmed that Cunha will miss the matches against England and Spain on March 23 and 26, respectively.

Despite the setback, Cunha has been a standout performer in the Premier League this season, contributing 11 goals and six assists, crucial in Wolves’ pursuit of European football next season.

Manager Gary O’Neil declined to disclose the expected duration of Cunha’s absence. Nonetheless, Wolves demonstrated resilience with a 2-1 victory over Tottenham last weekend, and they look forward to facing Sheffield United at Molineux on Sunday.

O’Neil has done an amazing job in his debut season with the Wolves. He took command less than a week before the season began, after the club had sold £140 million in talent, and was tasked with keeping the team in the top flight.

O’Neil has exceeded expectations thanks to the strong performances of Cunha, Hee-chan Hwang, and Pedro Neto, and there is currently minimal risk of Wolves getting drawn into the survival battle.
