Player now delighted with decision to leave Burnley

On loan from Burnley with an option to buy, Darko Churlinov has returned to Schalke 04, expressing his joy to WAZ.

He has fond memories of his previous loan stint there while he was with VfB Stuttgart before joining Burnley for €3.5m. Despite struggling to make an impact under Vincent Kompany at Burnley and facing a significant illness, Churlinov is back on the field and making an impact. He scored on his debut on January 26th and provided an assist in the recent win over Wehen Wiesbaden.

Speaking to WAZ about his comeback to Schalke, Churlinov stated, “I feel very good. It’s improving every week. I’m able to play for longer durations.” He has started the last three games for Schalke as they aim for Bundesliga promotion. However, their current league position, 14th after 22 games and 19 points behind league leaders Sankt-Pauli, suggests it might not happen this season.

Nonetheless, Burnley will be pleased with Churlinov’s loan success and hope Schalke can secure funds for a permanent move. Since joining Burnley, the 23-year-old has only made 13 appearances without registering a goal or assist.
