Sunderland are searching for a new permanent manager after dismissing Michael Beale on Monday
Former Sunderland striker Dwight Yorke has expressed his eagerness to take on the role of permanent manager at Sunderland as the club initiates its search for a successor to Michael Beale.
Beale was dismissed by the Black Cats on Monday afternoon following a string of underwhelming results, winning only four of his 12 Championship matches in charge, leaving the club positioned tenth in the table.
In the interim, Mike Dodds has assumed temporary charge of the team until the end of the season, leaving uncertainty about who Sunderland will appoint next in their quest for stability at the Stadium of Light.
Yorke, who has limited managerial experience with his previous stint at Australian A-League side Macarthur United last season, believes he deserves consideration for the managerial position at his former club. Reflecting on the prospect of returning to Sunderland as a coach, he expressed his desire for the opportunity while emphasizing his openness to managing other clubs in the EFL if necessary.
Additionally, Yorke shared his admiration for current Sunderland midfielder Jobe Bellingham, foreseeing a move to the Premier League in the near future for the talented teenager. He highlighted Bellingham’s growing reputation and potential as a Premier League player, expressing confidence in the player’s abilities to excel at the highest level.
