AC Milan star will now get multi-game ban

A moment of madness from Luka Jovic in the second half of the defeat to Monza not only put the game at risk but will also likely see him suspended for more than one game.

Things went from bad to worse for the Rossoneri after falling behind 2-0 at halftime against Monza, as Jovic was sent off only five minutes into the second half.

Following an earlier altercation with Izzo, the two collided off the ball again, and the Serbian seemed to slap the defender, resulting in a red card after a VAR review.

Milan would eventually draw level thanks to goals from Olivier Giroud and Christian Pulisic, but Bondo and Pulisic scored late to keep the points in Monza.

According to MilanNews, Jovic is likely to face more than a one-game penalty for his moment of madness under Article 38 of the Code of Sports Justice.

“A minimum sanction of three matches or fixed-term disqualification shall be imposed on footballers responsible for violent conduct towards players or other people present, committed on the occasion of or during the match, regardless of the application of mitigating or aggravating circumstances.” In the instance of particularly egregious violent conduct, the player is disqualified for five matches or for a defined period of time.”

While we wait for the Sporting Judge’s pronouncement at the beginning of the week, the issue appears to be well defined: Jovic will most likely face a three-match ban.
