The Seattle Seahawks have regularly been rumored as a possible destination for Baltimore Ravens linebacker Patrick Queen. The suspicions have grown since the Seahawks hired former Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald.
With Bobby Wagner and Jordyn Brooks both entering free agency, there may be opportunity for Seattle to sign Queen. Mitchel Milani of Bleacher Report thinks that the Seahawks will sign Queen in Macdonald’s first significant move since joining Seattle.
“The middle of their defense could use work,” Milani said during a February 14, 2024 Bleacher Report live stream. “I believe Patrick Queen comes in; he is conversant with the system.
“Could quickly participate and lead the way. Become a leader on Mike Macdonald’s side of the ball. This makes a lot of sense.

Brooks will be forever tied to Queen, as the Seahawks chose the defense with the 27th choice in the 2020 NFL draft. Seattle chose Brooks one spot ahead of Queen, who the Ravens drafted at No. 28.
Given that both linebackers are free agents, could the Seahawks team them together? Queen might command a high price in the coming months.
Spotrac estimates Queen’s market value at $92.6 million over five years. This would result in the defense earning an average annual compensation of $18.5 million, which is a large sum for a linebacker in today’s NFL. Queen recently finished a four-year, $12.1 million rookie contract.

For instance, Queen is expected to earn more than double Brooks’ salary on his next contract. Spotrac estimates Brooks’ market value to be a four-year, $45.3 million contract.
Should there be such a significant financial discrepancy between the two players? Queen is coming off of his first Pro Bowl appearance in Baltimore. The Seahawks could want to see how Brooks plays in Macdonald’s new system.
Last season, Queen made 17 starts and recorded a career-high 133 tackles, 9 tackles for loss, 6 quarterback hits, 3.5 sacks, 6 pass deflections, one interception, and a forced fumble. One of Queen’s most impressive achievements is that he has not missed a game in four NFL seasons, starting every game for the Ravens.
Patrick Queen on Mike Macdonald: ‘The Best Candidate Out There’

Could Queen be willing to follow MacDonald to Seattle? When questioned about MacDonald’s future before joining the Seahawks, the linebacker gushed.
“I think he is the best candidate out there right now,” said Queen to reporters on January 29. “I don’t believe anyone does [it] like him. Nobody cares as much as he does. Nobody else will do what he does. He will not stop until he has everything perfect.
“So, whoever gets him, if he leaves, probably’s getting like the best candidate out there,” she said. “The guy is the best person I’ve ever known. He truly cares, both as a coach and as a person. He genuinely cares about the players, the people in the organization, and the fans.”
