FA official decision as Burnley receive ban for Arsenal clash

On Saturday afternoon, Arsenal will face Burnley at Turf Moor, looking for a fifth consecutive Premier League win.

The Gunners are in excellent form, having beaten West Ham 6-0 away the previous weekend.
Mikel Arteta’s side is two points behind the leaders and must maintain their winning streak to remain in contention for the championship.

They will be confident in their prospects against the Clarets, who have lost nine of their twelve home games this season and will be without manager Vincent Kompany.

Burnley vs Arsenal: Saka’s half-century

Bukayo Saka achieved a milestone for Arsenal against West Ham last time around.

The 22-year-old scored his 50th and 51st goals for Arsenal at the London Stadium.

By doing so, he became the Premier League’s youngest player to reach a half-century with the club.

Saka has some remarkable accomplishments considering his age, with a total of 70 goals and assists since the beginning of the 2021/22 season.

He and Mohamed Salah are the only two top-flight players with 40 or more goals and 30 or more assists over that span.

‘Starboy’ continues to live up to his nickname, and he’s a key player in Arsenal’s title bid this season.

Burnley vs Arsenal: Team news

Burnley could welcome back left-back Charlie Taylor, who returned to training this week.

Taylor has been sidelined for more than a month, as have Jordan Beyer, Luca Koleosho, and Nathan Redmond.

Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus is anticipated to be absent again after missing the previous three games due to a knee ailment.

Emile Smith Rowe is also unlikely to play after suffering a knock in training, while Oleksandr Zinchenko is doubtful.

Jorginho was only fit enough to sit on the bench against West Ham due to a foot injury that Arteta was managing.

Burnley has yet to win a Premier League game this season against a team that begins the day in the top half of the table; in their nine games against teams in the top ten on the morning of the game, the Clarets have drawn one, lost eight, and conceded 24 goals.

Arsenal are one of only two teams with a perfect Premier League record in 2024, having won all four games and scored 16 goals. It’s only the second time they’ve won their first four league games in a single season, having done it in 1935; they’ve never won their first five league games in a calendar year.

Burnley vs Arsenal: What has been said?

Kompany, Burnley’s manager, will serve a touchline ban when his team faces Arsenal.

Leeds news: Vincent Kompany eyeing Leeds man for Burnley

Speaking about his third card of the season last time out, Kompany said: “I believe I was booked because I should have paid attention to Jurgen Klopp’s booking.

“Because I believe the referee simply went seeking for me.

“I opened my arms out, as I had done in many previous games. The card suddenly appears. Out of nothing.

“Now I’m suspended for the next game. I should have seen that was just a means to balance things out, and it doesn’t make sense.

“But hey, we need to keep going. “No sulking.”

Burnley has scored only nine goals in 17 Premier League games against Arsenal, and never more than once in a game. It’s the most times one team has met another in the competition without scoring multiple goals.

Burnley has conceded 50 Premier League goals in just 24 matches this season, with the 50th coming in a 3-1 loss to Liverpool. It is the earliest they have scored 50 goals in a league season since 1932-33 (23rd game, second tier), and the earliest in the top division since 1929-30 (24th game).
