AC Milan practically sacked Stefano Pioli

Stefano Pioli must fight for his job at Milan, but Calciomercato.com reports that the Rossoneri ‘practically resolved to sack’ the Italian strategist in December.

Pioli’s Milan contract expires in June 2025, and despite rising speculation that he may leave at the end of the season, President Paolo Scaroni and CEO Giorgio Furlani have recently confirmed their faith in the Parma-born coach.

According to Calciomercato.com, the Serie A giants effectively decided to fire their coach in December after a ‘disappointing’ 2-2 draw with Salernitana at the Stadio Arechi.

However, a lack of plausible candidates and the support of Milan’s most experienced players apparently persuaded the club to keep Pioli until the end of the season.

According to the report, Pioli’s chances of staying in charge of the Diavoli next season are slim, even though the 58-year-old can still save his job by winning the Europa League or the Serie A title, which is a difficult task given that Inter have an eight-point lead over their city rivals with a game in hand.

According to the article, Antonio Conte, Thiago Motta, Roberto De Zerbi, and Julen Lopetegui are managers with ‘interesting features’ for executives at Casa Milan.
