Bruno Guimaraes talked about his Newcastle United future after scoring twice against Nottingham Forest.
Bruno Guimaraes has stated that he is “happy” at Newcastle United, highlighting the importance of European competition next season.
The Brazilian was at his mercurial best as Newcastle clinched a thrilling 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest. Given the freedom to go farther forward, Guimaraes scored twice to put the Tricky Trees to the sword, avenging his Boxing Day humiliation at St James’ Park.
His first came from a well-executed set piece, and the winner came shortly after the hour mark from a distance.
Newcastle fans serenaded their Brazilian maestro after he won the match.
Guimaraes’ future has been the subject of much speculation since signing a contract extension in October. It is understood that a £100 million release clause was included in the agreement, dangling a carrot for possible suitors.
Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain are rumored to be interested in the Toon talisman. Guimaraes, on the other hand, put an end to any talk of leaving after orchestrating a victory against Forest.
The 26-year-old also mentioned that Newcastle’s goal remains to qualify for Europe, hinting at what needs to be done to keep the midfielder. Guimaraes told Sky Sports: “Sometimes people talk a lot about me. I just talk a lot about football. I’m quite pleased here, and I like how the fans perceive me here. “Let the people speak.”
“We need to reclaim Europe. Try for the Champions League; I know it’s difficult, but definitely for the Europa League. We’ve been better away from home. We have a major game at home next week, and we aim to get three points. I adore spending time here. The fans have been incredible for me and my family. I hope this can continue for a long time.”
