Amanda Staveley, Newcastle United’s co-owner, gives her thoughts on the 3-2 victory at Nottingham Forest.
Amanda Staveley was “so proud” of Newcastle United after their 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest on Saturday night.
The Magpies arrived at the City Ground after drawing 4-4 against relegation-threatened Luton Town at St James’ Park the previous week, but they quickly resumed their winning ways.
Bruno Guimaraes, a Brazilian midfielder, scored twice, once in the 10th minute and again midway through the second half. The score was equal at halftime as Anthony Elanga and Callum Hudson-Odoi both shot wide of Fabian Schar’s goal.
Reacting to the result on Instagram, Staveley said: “Amazing performance today. So proud, as always, of this team. They keep showing up and today they bring home 3 points 🖤🤍 #howaythelads.”
Eddie Howe, like Staveley, was deeply affected by the result. At full-time, the United manager showed his emotions in front of the traveling away fans with an unusual fist pump.
“That was because they haven’t had many positive moments away from home, not as many as we would have liked,” he said. We appreciate and value their support, therefore tonight was a great gain for us, and maybe we can look forward to being at home next week.
“It means everything to each of us. We put so much effort into our preparation to win matches, and our fans put so much effort into traveling to see us play. This season, we haven’t always given them the rewards they deserve, so it’s good to celebrate when we do.”
On Saturday afternoon, Howe will host old club Bournemouth at St James’ Park (3pm kick-off).
