While the Buffalo Bills did not make the Super Bowl this year, quarterback Josh Allen had a record-breaking season. Allen was one of five finalists for the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award at the 2024 NFL Honors, which aired live on February 8.
Allen arrived in Las Vegas ahead of the awards presentation, which was held at the Resorts World Theatre. Fans and the media waited for Allen to go down the red carpet, but he was nowhere to be found. When the ceremony began, he was still missing.
At the end of the event, Barstool Sports’ Dan “Big Cat” Katz disclosed Allen’s whereabouts. Turns that the 27-year-old left the awards ceremony and joined Teak Yak at The Dozen Trivia Competition.
Katz wrote: “I called Josh two hours before the show started. He reorganized his dinner to assist a friend in need. A legendary hero move. “Guy through and through.”

While the no-show may surprise some, earlier in the day, Allen told The Buffalo News his actual sentiments about being in Las Vegas but not playing in the Super Bowl.
“I mean, that sucks. I don’t enjoy doing these stuff, you know?” Allen stated. “But collaborating with some cool brands, that kind of comes with the territory.”
As a kid, you’d look at this and think, ‘If I’m in this situation, I think it would be fairly cool to come out here and do some cool stuff.’ I suppose that makes it a little easier to be here, but I don’t want to be here.
According to Batavia Daily’s Alex Brasky, Josh Allen is participating in Barstool trivia during the NFL Honors. “My guy dgaf.” One fan tweeted, “In Vegas, just hanging with the boys instead of attending the NFL Honors. “What a dude!”
Fans Were Hoping to See Josh Allen & Hailee Steinfeld Make Their Red Carpet Debut
While fans were delighted to see Allen in Las Vegas, they also wanted to see his girlfriend, Hailee Steinfeld. Steinfeld and Allen made their first public appearance together in October, but this would have been the couple’s red carpet premiere.

Allen has been seeing the Oscar-nominated actress since last May. Although the couple maintains a modest profile, they are still going strong. A week after the Bills’ postseason run ended abruptly, Allen and Steinfeld were spotted together in Southern California.
However, Allen ultimately skipped the ceremony, so the couple’s red carpet debut will have to wait. Allen has already attended the NFL Honors twice, in 2020 and 2022. He finished third in MVP voting in 2022 and second in 2020. Both times, he brought his ex-girlfriend, Brittany Williams. Allen and Williams split up in April 2023.
Josh Allen Was Not Predicted to Win the MVP Award
4,830 total yards and 44 total touchdowns is just absurd…unless your name is Josh Allen. Is he your MVP? 🎮 @invisalign

Allen topped the league in total touchdowns (44) and total yardage (4,830). He also led the Bills to their fourth straight AFC East championship. The Wyoming grad set a new NFL record by scoring a throwing and rushing touchdown in ten regular-season games. Allen was not expected to win this year’s MVP award.
The Bills’ franchise quarterback faces four other contenders: Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, and Niners running back Christian McCaffrey.
Jackson was widely projected to earn the MVP title for the second time in his career. The 27-year-old received a unanimous vote in 2019. He eventually won again in 2024. Jackson led the league in touchdown passes and scored the most points this season.
However, CBS Sports’ Chris Trapasso believes that Allen should have received the prize this year. He wrote in his essay, “Although he’s very unlikely to win, Josh Allen was the Most Valuable Player in the 2023 season.”
According to Bleacher Report’s Joe Tansey, Allen is the leading candidate for MVP if the award is only given for the second half of the regular season. But he had several poor performances in the early half, making his resume incomplete.”
