Premier League confirm £57m duo removed from Newcastle United squad

Newcastle United’s Premier League roster for the latter half of the season falls short by two players from the maximum 25-player limit.

All Premier League clubs are required to provide their squad list to the Premier League following the closure of both the summer and winter transfer windows. However, during the transfer window, clubs have the freedom to utilize any player under contract.

Initially, United had listed 25 players for the first portion of the season, but two have since departed for the remaining 15 matches. Javier Manquillo departed to join Celta Vigo after a tenure of six-and-a-half years with the team, while £52 million summer acquisition Sandro Tonali has been suspended from football until August due to an investigation into illegal betting activity.

Each Premier League squad list can consist of up to 25 players, with a requirement of at least eight players categorized as ‘homegrown.’ Players born on or after January 1, 2002, are exempt from inclusion in the 25-man squad, which benefits players like Tino Livramento, Lewis Miley, Lewis Hall, Elliot Anderson, and Joe White.

Additionally, academy players such as Alex Murphy, Ben Parkinson, Michael Ndiweni, Amadou Diallo, and the most recent signing, Alfie Harrison, are not required to be included to be eligible to participate in Premier League matches.

The complete 23-player squad that Newcastle United has submitted to the Premier League is as follows:
